Enterprise Europe Network Cyprus (EEN Cy) provides, free of charge, comprehensive consulting services to Cypriot businesses wanting to invest in knowledge, research, technology and innovation.

EEN-Cy is the national consortium, a member of the European Enterprise Europe Network since its creation in 2008, and consists of the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) as the coordinator, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the European Office of Cyprus as members.

EEN Cy Services

Enterprise Europe Network Cyprus provides information services on financing and legislation issues, on expansion into international markets and finding partners, on technology transfer and innovation as well as support regarding intellectual property right. Services are specially designed for small and medium-sized enterprises, irrespective of their economic activity and are being offered to universities and research centers in Cyprus.

Technology Transfer

Technology transfer in the innovation context often refers to transferring available knowledge, skills, technologies, methods and tools between public and private research organisations and / or businesses, both locally and internationally, with the aim of their further development or exploitation by end-users. Technology transfer refers not only to transfer between Organizations but also to transfer between industrial and scientific sectors.

Technology transfer services provided by EEN Cy include the following:

Promoting transnational knowledge and technology transfer, reflecting needs and socio-economic structures at local and national level.
Strengthening the capacity of SMEs to adopt new technologies, assessing the needs and capabilities of Cypriot SMEs to engage in international technology partnerships and technology transfer activities.
Implementing technology audits and analyzing needs for innovation, offering bids and technology searches, organising business missions abroad, organising and promoting the participation of Cypriot organizations in international networking meetings, intellectual property counseling activities, etc.
Supporting the exploitation of research results through technology transfer activities.
Facilitating the transfer of technology through electronic tools and databases.

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

Intellectual Property is one of the most important intangible assets and also an important tool for its owners. Integrating and exploiting Intellectual Property from an innovative business increases its competitiveness and can help the business survive and stand out in a global market. Intellectual Property Rights is a powerful tool for businesses that wish to secure exclusivity of a new product or process, or even to secure additional revenue from licensing their Intellectual Property.

EEN-cy provides research and business support services on Intellectual Property issues, especially with regards to the protection and exploitation matters. The Network targets participants involved in funded research and innovation programs, small and medium enterprises with research and innovation activities as well as intermediaries providing support services to businesses and researchers.

Services include:

General information on Intellectual Property issues as well as personalised support.
Mediation for obtaining information and advice from EU IPR HelpDesk. EU IPR HelpDesk is the official initiative of the European Commission on Intellectual Property Issues, which is part of the RIF within the framework of the “Intellectual Property Ambassadors”.
Promotion of innovative products or services abroad through the Enterprise Europe Network, with the support of the Foundation’s qualified personnel throughout the technology transfer process.
Support through a specially formulated financial tool to secure Intellectual Property Rights.
Information on applicable Intellectual Property Regulations in the Horizon 2020 Program, and the obligations of researchers as listed in the Work Plans, Project Contracts and other documents.

Exploitation of Research Results

Exploitation of research results is the use, for social and economic purposes, of the main conclusions, tools, methods, products, etc., produced through research and development activities. Through the exploitation of research results, it is possible to maximize the benefits of research and development activities for the society and the economy of a state, thus returning the state’s research investment to the market and society itself.

The commercial exploitation of research results can bring economic benefit to researchers as well as to the “end users” of the results. In the long run, it may contribute to a greater economic and social development, the creation of new job positions and career opportunities for young graduates and the improvement of quality of life through the use of new products and services.

Innovation Management

Innovation Support Services

The provision of innovation support services aims to support companies for introducing innovative products in the local and international market and enhancing the innovation potential of Cypriot enterprises.

The main ways in which EEN-Cy contributes to the above objectives are the following:

Raising awareness of entrepreneurs and other stakeholders about innovation policies, legislation and available support programs.
Providing mediation services for the transfer of technology and knowledge and for the development of partnerships between key stakeholders in innovation issues.
Strengthening the capacity of SMEs to innovate.
Linking with other innovation services (including the Intellectual Property Rights patenting process).
Assistance in the exploitation and dissemination of research results.
Enhancing skills and developing tools for managing innovation through dedicated tools and personalized services.

Support to EIC Beneficiaries

Enterprises that are funded under the “European Innovation Council” programs are entitled to additional support to take full advantage of the innovation activities implemented under the Program.

In particular, services provided include the following:
Assessing the business’s innovation management needs.
Finding appropriate coaches from various EU databases.
Mediation and facilitation of the provision of specialized coaching services by experts in specific fields identified by the company in cooperation with the consultants of EEN Cy.

The provision of coaching services is a contractual obligation of these companies and the selection of experts is obligatory before the signing of the Contract for the implementation of the Project under this Program.

Strengthening Innovation Management Capacities of SMEs

EEN-cy provides SMEs with the opportunity to benefit from the following services:

Assessing the company’s capabilities for innovation management, using reliable tools widely used on a pan-European level (using the tools IMP3rove, smEmpower, Innovation Healthcheck).
Analysis of the company’s needs to enhance the potential for innovation development.
Design and guidance for the implementation of an Action Plan tailored to the needs of the business.
All of the aforementioned services are provided to businesses free of charge.

Enterprise Europe Network maintains the largest European business and technology opportunity base that supports stakeholders in finding EEN member business and academic partners to create, develop, distribute and supply products and services, extend to new markets, access to technologies that will facilitate innovation and find partners to participate in research and development projects.
