Cyprus and Israel Strengthen Ties Between Their Research Communities

The bilateral networking event between Cyprus and Israel, co-organized by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) and the Israel-Europe Research & Innovation Directorate (ISERD), successfully took place on February 26 in Nicosia under the auspices of the Embassy of Israel in Cyprus.
Research and business stakeholders from both countries showcased their capabilities and discussed potential collaborations for the joint submission of proposals under the EU’s Horizon Europe program.
Participants engaged in one-on-one meetings to further strengthen their professional networks, while in the afternoon, they visited research facilities and infrastructures in Cyprus.
In his address, the Ambassador of Israel, H.E. Oren Anolik, expressed his deep satisfaction with the event, highlighting the Embassy’s strong support for such initiatives. He also emphasized that Israel remains committed to fostering initiatives that bring the two countries closer together across various fields, including innovation and technology. “The potential for collaboration is immense, and the commitment of both nations to progress and innovate is undeniable.”
From RIF’s side, Director General Mr. Theodoros Loukaidis described the event as “a key step in strengthening Cyprus-Israel collaboration in research and innovation.” He further stated that “such initiatives reinforce ties between the research communities of both countries, fostering strategic partnerships that can leverage European funding tools and drive innovative solutions with global impact.”
